Yesterday my family and I went to Toronto for the day because Nathan has never been. He'll be 18 in August and has never been to Toronto....I find that amusing. Some of you may or may not know this, but my dad grew up in Toronto. Our journey began at 8am. We left the house and headed for McDonald's for some yummy breakfast I don't like their breakfasts, although I did eat some pancakes that were alright. Anyways, we were going to go to the one over off Wellington by the 401, but my dad decided to pull into the playplace one on Wonderland S. Lo! and behold, Tara was working! So that was cool to run into her there. I completely forgot she worked there in the mornings, so it was cool to see her working. Also, only a couple of you might remember Mike and Onalee Mitchell. Well my brother asked my mom, "How do you spell Onalee?" and after that, she walked in the door! It was pretty cool. After a bit of chatting, we set out for Toronto.
Once we arrived, we parked and went to the CN Tower (of course) and since it's friggin' expensive, only my brother and I went up. It was neat. I'd already been a few times, but it was quite beautiful to look out over the water and everything. Funny thing, I'm not the person who's overly concerned about things, so once they scanned my ticket I shoved it in my back pocket and it was kind of sticking out. Then on the way down, I realized someone had jacked my ticket! I thought that was pretty funny since a) I didn't even notice, and b) it's useless to anyone once it's been scanned. After that, we spent a good while wandering the underground tunnels and my dad got us lost. We finally found our way and went to Richtree, which is this place where they give you a card and you just go to all these different food stations and they scan your card and you pay at the end. It was very different; nice atmosphere though. Apparently it used to be called the Mov N' Pick (sp?).
Our journey continued on over to Don Mills where my dad grew up. He took us around and showed us different places he lived and hung out. A lot of it had changed though, except for his schools. We even went in one because the door was conveniently open....muahaha. Then we went on some nature hike (yep, in Toronto) to this valley where my dad used to play and cause trouble. After a bit more driving and giant traffic jams, we arrived back home, but first stopped off at Jack Astor's for supper and then to Loblaws to redeem our free ice cream.
It was cool to see where he grew up and all that. Toronto's definitely different than London and I think that I'm happy just staying right here where it's more familiar. That's my story. The end.
P.S. We took lots of pictures. I might post some later, but I got a new computer and I don't have all the programs up yet.
