Jumped

So I got jumped last night. I was at Trevor's house and I took the bus home (like I always do) and I was walking home from the bus stop and I was walking down Gainsborough and I saw two people up ahead and I immediately knew what was coming. It's funny how God kind of prepares you for these things. I finally figured out it was a guy and a girl and they were arguing about who knows what and I didn't look at them or anything when I walked by. The girl was standing in my way on the sidewalk so I went to walk around on the grass when her boyfriend, or whoever he was, pulled her out of my way. As I was walking by them, the girl punched me in the side of the face, about where my left jaw is. She started calling me names and I kept walking and I was like "what was that for?!" And she continued to call me unmentionable names and I kept walking. I started pulling out my cell phone to call my boyfriend when I heard her start running after me so I turned around and as soon as I turned around she punched me in the side of the head again. Then she grabbed the half ponytail I had in my hair and she had my head down so I was staring at the ground and she kept pulling my hair and punching my in the head. I had my cell phone in my hand and I didn't want to drop it and have her steal it so I was trying to get it in my pocket. I finally got it in my pocket, but she threw me into a fence and I somehow ended up being dragged on the ground. I got a couple punches in her side 'cause I was trying to get her off me, but she was bigger then me, and fatter to say the least so she had total advantage, especially since I've never fought anyone before! After I was on the ground I got up and she and the guy started walking away and I just stood there for a minute and waited for them to get farther ahead of me before I continued home. There's a break in the fence where I go through to get home and when I walked through it they were standing there and it made me jump a little to see them. She didn't touch me after that, she just continued to call me names and I got on the phone and called my boyfriend.

Once I got home I was crying hysterically when I was on the phone with Trevor and Nathan heard me so he came downstairs to see if I was alright. I woke up my parents and told them what happened and my mom made me call the cops. It's funny cause my dad and brother got dressed and went outside to look for them. I'm not sure what they would have done 'cause they can't exactly start beating up a girl, but they never found them. The cops came and just took down where I was hurt and my description of them. Although it's hard to pay attention to what they look like when my head is getting beaten so I'm not sure I helped the officer out a lot. But either way, it's done and over with. I'm not too hurt. My head is pretty bruised, especially where she pulled out my hair. Our bathroom garbage can was half full of the hair she ripped out of my head, so you girls probably understand how much that hurt! My ear is cut and bloody and sore, but it's okay. My jaw is a bit bruised up and I have a bad scratch on my elbow and knees. Good thing I was wearing a sweater and jeans otherwise I would be more scratched up than I am.

What I don't understand is that I don't even know this girl. I've never seen her before in my life and she really had zero reason to attack me besides the fact that she seemed to be fighting with her boyfriend and apparently she took it out on me. The officer said that his first impression of me was that I looked very sweet and nice and he said that she probably took advantage of that, and that maybe I looked like I was better off then her and she decided to make me pay for it. Whatever the reason, it's angering that I will no longer feel comfortable walking home at night, not that I should, but I mean, I have no beef with her, so she had no reason to hurt me and now I can't help wanting to kill her. But I've decided to let it go and I'm lucky she didn't have a knife or something and that she wasn't really all that strong. I'm actually kind of proud of how well I took her punches. Not that that's important :P Anyways, hope everyone enjoys this beautiful weather and have a great weekend. Be safe!

wow, that's insane! I saw that you got jumped on your msn so i decided to read your blog. That is so weird. That she just attacked you. Like, i don't get how someone would get any kind of satisfaction from beating up a random person.

Oh my goodness that sounds painful, scary and totally crazy! I can't believe she just started attacking you - who does that? Well I'm sure glad you're okay, although it still sounds like it'll take some time to heal. We'll be praying for you!

That's insane!! I'm glad you got out of it without anything more serious happening but that's just brutal.

I had another friend that was robbed by gang members in the Pond Mills area of town last month. Gagh! This is exactly why I always escort girls home, the idea of something like that freaks me out.

    Hey Aleah,

I don't know if you remember me, I'm Abe's brother, Dan. I'm working a night shift and I was checking out the links on Abe's blog and I happened onto this post.

My heart goes out to you for what you went through. The thing that sucks the most about that sort of random act of violence is the way in which it makes all sorts of other things feel unsafe. The trauma of the event often lasts far longer the the bruises. Stay strong, but it's more than okay to call your boyfriend, or your brother, or whoever, and have them walk you places at night!

I can identify with you a little (although these sorts of things are often different for girls than for guys). I've hung out in a lot of bad neighbourhoods (actually the worst neighbourhoods in Toronto and Vancouver), I've walked alleyways at night in those places on a semi-regular basis -- and the only place I've ever been jumped (and robbed) was in London! What's up with that town?!

I recommend you start taking kickboxing classes or women self defense class with a martial arts school. You have every right to defend yourself if being attacked. I have been taking kickboxing for the past year and feel like I know how to handle myself if something happens.

    I hope this helps,

    Thomas
